Historically part of Chatham Crescent, Baldwin Park sits just on the north side of Victory Drive and runs just before 39th Street, a little after Price Street and right before Waters Avenue. This neighborhood is full of diverse architecture from large Victorian estates to more modest craftsman bungalows due to the divide from its original parameters in 1935. Enjoy the circular Baldwin Park that sits centrally in this neighborhood and after whom the subdivision got its name. Located minutes from downtown Savannah and various local eateries.
Just to the west of the parameters of Baldwin Park are a handful of eateries locals can’t get enough of. For casual dining, Green Truck Neighborhood Pub is known for their delectable burgers and homemade ketchup. Al Salaam Deli is a Mediterranean restaurant that truly feels local. If you would like something a little fancier, travel a little further west to the notable Elizabeth’s on 37th Street where you can enjoy your meal in a historic, 1900s mansion.
Shopping and Attractions:
Baldwin Park is what gives this neighborhood its name and lies in the heart of the subdivision. It is a circular park that is nestled at the end of Tiedeman Park, which runs through Chatham Crescent. Russo’s Seafood is where you can find local, fresh seafood for you to cook and enjoy.
Originally part of Northern Chatham Crescent, Baldwin Park was developed by Harvey Granger. Estill Avenue was a street lined with beautiful palmettos and palatial homes that ran between what is now Baldwin Park and Chatham Crescent. In 1919 the road was expanded and became a memorial for fallen soldiers of World War I. Finally, in 1935 the road was declared a boulevard which led to the separation of Baldwin Park from current day Chatham Crescent. Because of this divide the homes within this neighborhood range from stately mansions to craftsman bungalows.
